Comments: This is a long shot, but I am going to give it a try. Listed on your roster page "Charlie, 2/77FA" you have listed a Pvt. Steven J Hamlin from Riverside, California, serving a tour during 1968-1969. I believe this to be my uncle. I have been searching for any knid of information that would lead me to how he was injured. I have heard stories growing up that Uncle Steve was wounded during a fire fight while in Vietnam. It has been said that he was the only surviving soldier, or one of very few surviving soldiers, that fateful day. Originally he was presumed dead, along with the others, until a reporter saw movement from my uncle. Uncle Steve was shot in the head, taking part of his skull. He was sent home with a metal plate in his head, leaving his mental state like that of a child at times. My Uncle Steven J Hamlin is still living and well. He resides in a VA Nursing Home in Spokane, Washington. I am not sure how much he may remember about his tour of duty, but I wanted to share this with those of you who may have known him before his injury. May God bless each and every one of you!! I have another uncle who also served in Vietnam, Charles Edward Hamlin. Where he served I do not know. Uncle Charlie was a truck driver for many years before he passed away in 2001. A couple of years before he died, he told me that he has a daughter somewhere in Vietnam but was never able to find her. I would love to complete his search for his daughter. To tell his daughter about him. I am so thankful for all of our American soldiers, past and present! Thank you for your service to preserve our way of life!!! Joy "Hamlin" Robinson
